Coach Redmond Impressed by Local Lad Bundock

8th February 2018    News

Oxford City Stars head coach Kenny Redmond yesterday hailed young-gun Theo Bundock.

Bundock, 18, who came through the Stars’ ranks, banged in four goals last month, after missing most of the season with a broken collar bone.

The teenage sensation captained Oxford’s under-18 development squad last season and signed for the first team in the summer.

He had gained a reputation as a prolific goal scorer after netting 116 goals in the last two seasons at development level and in the English National League 2 for Bristol Pitbulls.

His injury forced him to watch from the side-lines – but got back on the ice last month and has made an immediate impact.

Bundock banged in a brace last month in a 14-0 victory over Haringey Huskies, his first goals for the Stars.

He also opened the scoring in the Stars 9-2 away win against rivals Swindon Wildcats and bagged another in the 11-3 mauling of Chelmsford Chieftains.

Redmond said: “It’s great to have Theo back from injury and now showing us what we all know he is capable of.

“He has weighed in with some important goals and made an immediate impression on everybody.

“Theo is talented, but very young, eager to learn and progress. He’s been desperate to play, and we’ll ice him when it’s right to do so and continue to work closely with him to support him in his development.

“It is fantastic to have another player progress locally. All the supporters enjoy seeing local lads come through and play for the first team.”
