Dax Hedges: “The boys did a great job on Sunday”

6th December 2019    News

This week we turned our attention to Dax Hedges.

Dax is a fan-favourite having been with the Stars for well over a decade. This season so far he’s contributed 4 goals and 7 assists with his last goal coming in Sunday’s away win over the Invicta Dynamos.

Q: How did you find Sunday’s victory over the Dynamos?
DH: Sunday’s game was a challenge for us. Invicta has always been a hard place to play: a long drive, cold dressing room and loud fans!  Off the back of a few results that didn’t go our way we needed a result. We knew they were going to come out flying as they had lost the night before. We weathered the storm and keep chipping away. It wasn’t the prettiest game of hockey but sometimes on the road that’s just how you have got to play. All the boys did a great job on Sunday night and bought into the systems Simon put in place.

Q: Which opponent has proved the toughest so far?
DH: Chelmsford, they’re a well drilled team.

Q: Who has impressed you out of your new teammates?
DH: The import “Micheal Whitlock” [correct spelling]. He brought his A-game this year and is playing some great hockey.

Q: Do you like any other sports/teams?
DH: I like watching most sports. The only other sport that I try to play, is golf.

Q: What do you do when you’re not playing hockey?
DH: Being “Dad” and running a new company. Takes up quite a lot of my time!

Q: What’s your favourite spot in Oxford?
DH: The Chester Arms off Iffley Road – they do great food – steak platter and cold beer!
