Ealey-Newmans both leave the Stars
Bracknell Hornets snap up the Oxford pair
Oxford City Stars have reluctantly agreed to the transfer of Brothers Ben and Josh Ealey-Newman to Bracknell Hornets of NIHL1. Both players left the club after transfer negotiations were completed between the two Southern teams.
Director James Schall said “We received a transfer approach in the middle of last week from Bracknell and had conversations with the brother’s representatives shortly after that. It was clear the two felt their immediate future lay away from Oxford”
Oxford City Stars have agreed for a fee for the brothers to cover costs and investments made for the players by the club.
Director Schall added “I would like to thank those involved for sorting out that side of things quickly, both boys were contracted with us and the most important thing for Oxford was to not be out of pocket.”
Head Coach Simon Anderson stated “It was a tough week, the timing wasn’t great as we were so short benched with injuries. I’m already looking at replacements, especially for Ben’s goals. We were looking to add bodies to the team before the move, now I’m looking for even more players!”
Representatives of the Ealey-Newmans wished Oxford City Stars and its fans well, saying the brothers had loved playing in front of the packed stands at Oxpens Road but travelling to the City had proved problematic.
The Stars hope to have new additions to the roster for their next match, away to Invicta on 9th October.
