Florey brothers return!

16th July 2018    News,Signing

Oxford City Stars have further bolstered its squad by re-signing Jake and Josh Florey.

The Oxford born and bred brothers both put pen to paper to re-commit to their home club for the new campaign.

Both players were key members of last season’s double winning squad, weighing in with crucial goals and putting in consistent performances.

At the end of season awards night Jake was voted most improved defenceman and Josh the most improved forward.

Jake said: “I’m delighted to be signing for the Stars again this season. We have such a tight group of players and the passion from the fans is a great feeling.”

Josh said: “It’s an honour to be able to sign for my home town club again and with the changes that have happened over the summer I think it’s going to be a really exciting season. I’m looking forward to putting on the yellow shirt again and playing in front of our fans.”

Head Coach Kenny Redmond said: “The Florey brothers are a key part of the squad and are both getting stronger as players year on year. Jake is a solid defenceman and always puts the team first defensively and he has a wicked shot on him and scored some crucial goals for us last season. Josh adapted well last season from a defensive role to playing up front. He scored in a lot of key games and is a strong skater with a powerful shot. We may move Josh back into a defensive role this season, but it is good to have options.”
