Four More Players Confirmed For Darren Elliott’s Testimonial Match

29th April 2019    News

A Stars cult player returns in the form of Nick Oliver for the Testimonial Oxford Team. Nick captained the Stars to two NIHL2 South Championship titles during the 2012/13 and 2013/14 season and has amassed 284 appearances for the Oxford City Stars senior team. An Oxford local and a player who made the transition from the Oxford Junior setup to the senior team saw Nick become not only an integral player on the ice for the Stars but also someone who was a great guy in the locker room. As a face-off specialist who played the game with his head up and who always seemed to make smart plays we are sure that any Oxford fan will be thrilled to see the former Captain return for the testimonial game!

Current Stars all action forward is confirmed and raring to go for the Testimonial Oxford Team! As a local player Dax Hedges has played nearly his whole senior career for the Oxford City Stars with his only stint away from the club coming in the 2011/12 season when the club folded. An extremely high action, maximum effort type of guy who is always willing to drop the gloves against anyone in the league to protect his team mates it is a no brainer that this very likeable character hits the ice in celebration of Elliott’s career!

Testimonial Select Team player confirmed. Lee Featherstone or as he is more widely known ‘Fevs’ played for the Oxford City Stars for a total of four season including stints between 2007/08 to 2009/10 and also the 2011/12 season. A hard working defenceman who played the majority of his hockey for his home town Milton Keynes was always a player that could be relied on when featuring for the Stars. A special occasion for both Fevs and Elliott turning back the clocks and staring against each other on the ice once again!

ProHockey News columnist and former Streatham Redskins fans favourite Dave Carr has been confirmed to ice in the testimonial as part of the Select Team! Having stand at the Oxpens Arena chosen by Stars fans to be named after one of UK hockey’s nicest guys says it all! Having iced for the Oxford City Stars for a total of five seasons over two spells Dave quickly became adored by the Stars fans mainly for his on ice performances but also for his Durham accent and affinity with Ginsters! A returning Dave Carr can only add to making this event even more enjoyable.
