Green, Jones, Clements sign on

18th August 2013    News

Oxford City Stars today completed their senior lineup for the 2013/14 season with the announcements of Alan Green, Warren Jones and Jack Clements, who signs for the club straight out of the Junior system.

Alan Green, Stars top points scorer returns for a 2nd season in a row and 7th in total for the club. A powerhouse forward, Alan lead the team in points scoring for the 2012/13 and is a tremendous signing for the club. ‘Steamy’ as he’s known in the squad, broke into the Stars Top 10 All-Time points scorer club with 207 points in league play during the match when Stars clinched the title last season. A skilled forward, Alan also plays the physical side of the game well and also features at 7th on the club’s All-Time Penalties chart! A key signing, we’re thrilled to have him back for this season.

Warren Jones, in this third full senior season is another player who is continuing to develop strongly during his time in Senior hockey. A hard-working forward with a fantastic attitude for the game, Warren contributes well on his line and has been around about a point a game in NIHL2 in the three seasons he’s played in it. An Oxford and Basingstoke junior, Warren has shown some fantastic promise as well as a solid technical ability and we expect to see more of it this season.

Joining the team this year out of the Junior system is Jack Clements, for his first full season of Senior hockey, Playing originally as a defensive minded forward, Jack transitioned over to defence for his final Under 18’s season. A tough hockey player, Jack is always the first to protect and defend his teammates but he also is a solid at the technical side of the game as well. Jack scored a point a game last season in U18s racking up the assists but his background as a forward gives him a good goalscoring ability as well, something he’s shown all of his career.

Speaking to Stars Head Coach, Darren Elliott he commented: “Last season Alan was our highest scoring forward. He’s Oxford born and bred and brings great attacking options to the team. He’s very well looked up to on the team and brings a fantastic presence both on and off the ice. Warren is one of Oxford latest editions from our junior development program. He has shown great ability and will be sitting in a solid spot this season. Jack is an Oxford based junior, a skilled versatile player and we’ll be looking forward to bringing him through and watching him closely. Jack can play both forward and defence so is a great asset and he’s definitely one of the future.”
