Mike Whillock returns home
Oxford City Stars have re-signed forward Mike Whillock.
The Stars moved quickly to snap up Whillock after discovering he was looking to return to the UK from Sweden.
Whillock who has spent most of his career at Oxpens had joined Swedish League Two club Svenstaviks HK at the end of last season.
He will now return home to give the Stars’ campaign a big boost.
Whillock amassed 43 points last season in the Stars’ double winning year and is looking forward to getting back to business at Oxpens.
He said: “I’m really excited to be coming back to Oxford. I’ve enjoyed my time in Sweden and have learnt a lot which I hope to bring back with me. I’m looking forward to playing in front of the Oxford fans again, they make Oxpens my favourite place to play hockey.”
Head Coach Kenny Redmond said: “As soon as I heard Mike was available, we were immediately interested. It wasn’t straight forward he requires international clearance.
"Having spoken to Scott I’m delighted in his backing to secure the deal. Mike was a top player in our achievements last season, and I’m delighted to have him back for our title challenge this year.”
