More Names Announced For Elliott Testimonial

The off-ice line up for Darren Elliott’s testimonial game on 16th June has been announced!

Testimonial Select Team Bench Coach has been confirmed as none other than former Stars coach Simon Anderson! Simon previously picked up the NIHL South Coach of the Year gong back in 2015/16 season while in charge of Oxford has spent no less than five seasons as Head coach of the Stars. Due to Elliott and Anderson having worked in collaboration as a coaching team for the Stars in the past, the pair have naturally formed not only a fantastic professional relationship but also a solid personal friendship. Having spent last season as Head Coach of the Swedish Division 2 Team Svenstaviks the testimonial game presents Anderson with a great opportunity to return to Oxford to take charge of the Select Team.


Testimonial Oxford Team Bench Coach has been confirmed! The former Stars man who has not only had a stand named after himself but has previously played and coached the Oxford City Stars Stars is returning in a bid to oversee the Oxford bench for the event. During his time as a Stars player Morvs witnessed Elliott’s senior debut game and subsequent breakthrough from promising junior to senior stalwart and spent countless hours coaching Elliott though out his meteoric rise to club captain. Another familiar face joins the star studded lineup!


Testimonial Oxford Team Equipment Manager finalised! Phil Skaife the father of former Stars netminder James Skaife is back where he belongs, taping sticks and organising the shirts. ‘Dad’ as he is more affectionately known by most of the Oxford players has spent countless hours down the Oxford rink, as a Stars fan and also as the equipment manager he will assist in organising the off-ice details for the Testimonial Oxford Team. With a big personality and someone who has known Elliott since he was a youngster, it will be great to see ‘Dad’ back on the bench!


Testimonial Select Team Equipment Manager confirmed! Steve Caddick who has previously been the Equipment Manager for the Stars is back to assist with the Testimonial game on the bench with the Select Team and is keen to show his support for Elliott. Caddick is a great guy who possesses an infectious enthusiasm for ice hockey and has always offered his help wherever possible during his time with the Stars. An excellent addition to the event!


Experienced Sports Therapist Kirsty Hopgood joins the off-ice team for the testimonial game. Qualified to a Masters Level in Sports Therapy, Kirsty provides a wealth of knowledge due to her time working with the England Netball, England Hockey and GB Ice Hockey teams as well as the Malawi Olympic squad. Kirsty had been the main Therapist for the Stars from 2010 up until 2017 and throughout that time forged friendships that remain to this day with players and staff alike. A trusted therapist who invested many many hours into ensuring Stars players returned back to fitness as quickly as possible will be well received by everyone involved purely due to her bubbly personality and ever present smile!
