More Players To Line Up For Elliott

Brothers galore as more players are confirmed for Darren Elliott’s testimonial

The middle of the three Oliver’s will be icing for the Testimonial Oxford Team! This talented defenceman will lace up his skates for the first time since injuring his shoulder playing for the Stars during the 2016/17 season, which inevitably cut his season short back then. Joe is a versatile D-man who skates well both with and without the puck and this has resulted in him producing a high number of assists to team mates, most notably during the 2012/13 season where he collected the award for most assists and most point in the league by any defenceman. Oliver is without doubt one of few players that is seen by everyone around him as a genuine team guy and his fun loving attitude will be fantastic to have around the rink again as we celebrate Elliott on the 16th June!

The last of the Oliver brothers (and also the youngest) will feature for the Testimonial Oxford Team and once again provide another opportunity for fans to see all three of them star at the Oxpens Arena! Josh is the only sibling who remains part of the Oxford City Stars current squad and this season saw him finish joint 3rd top points scorer across all competitions. With ability to burn, unique a skating ability (which at times looks effortless) and his infectious dry sense of humour Josh will no doubt rummage through that locker of his and bring with him plenty of party tricks for fans to witness in the skills competition!

The Testimonial Select Team have another former Stars player confirmed! Mike Hargreaves featured for the Stars in 2008/09 season in what was known back then as the English National League. Hargreaves who has previously plied his trade in the EPIHL for the Isle of Wight Raiders and Swindon Wildcats has spent the past ten years as an integral part of the Bristol Pitbulls playing and coaching staff. Someone, who like his older brother can drop the gloves to protect his team mates, rile opposition when required and play smart hockey the remainder of the time will add a touch of nostalgia for the Stars crowd!

The second of the Testimonial Select Team announcements see’s former player coach Richie Hargreaves return! Richie is a player who has been around our beautiful game for long long time and has been there…done it…and seen it all. In the past Hargreaves has starred in the BNL, EIHL, EPIHL for teams such as Basingstoke Bison, Cardiff Devils, London Racers and Slough Jets to name a few and more recently as Bristol Pitbulls player coach. With the Bristol ice rink closure a few years back Richie has had to utilised the Oxpens Arena in recent season for the Pitbulls home games and to his credit has done a fantastic job stabilising the club. As a previous player coach for the Stars back in 2008/09 Richie is no stranger to the City and its fans, and we’re all hoping his participation in the game will see some of the Pitbulls crowd also in attendance!
