Past & Present Stars confirmed!

9th June 2019    News

Current Stars forward Stewart Tait is raring to go for the Testimonial Oxford Team! Taity has become a solid fans favourite since his arrival from London Raiders two seasons ago and although injured for most part of the 2018/19 season he finished the campaign with his usual hardworking ethic. Tait enjoyed NIHL Championship wins with the Stars in 2017/18 where his versatility as a player shone through, helping the team in both defence and as a forward when required. This likeable Londoner has featured in various teams against Elliott through out their careers and will cherish the opportunity to play with and against Elliott on the day of the Testimonial event!

Stars high scoring defenceman Dom Hopkins has confirmed to star for the Testimonial Oxford Team! Hopkins has notched up extremely impressive points stats throughout his glittering career which have been instrumental in securing Championships for the Oxford City Stars in recent seasons. Stars fans will be more than familiar with witnessing Hopkins releasing his thunderous slapshots from the blue-line on numerous occasions against opponents at the Oxpens Arena. As an assistant captain for the Stars, Dommer has seen a close relationship with Elliott forged since his arrival back in 2016/17 and will no doubt be excited and humbled to share the celebrations with Elliott for his testimonial!

The poke-check king Paul Gore will shoot down the M40 to feature for the Testimonial Select Team! Goresy is a character that pretty much every player at Oxford will have amazing stories to tell from his times playing for the Stars. Famous for utilising his impressive, precise poke-checking ability against opponents Gore has managed four separate stints at Oxford with the most recent being in 2017/19 where he played seven games on the road to securing the Championship title. This genuine ever smiling guy will be back on the Oxford ice pad no doubt showing off his famous poke-check during proceedings and maybe even creating new stories for all involved with his post match antics!

The very talented, skilful and long bearded Alan Armour is on for the Testimonial Select Team! Arms has been around the leagues since his senior arrival for the Swindon Wildcats back in 1991/92 and has won various Championships throughout. Armour first skated for the Stars back in 1996/17 where he notched up 43 point in 20 games and then later returned in 2008/09 where on both occasions he iced alongside Elliott who knows Arms very well. A very gifted player who’s trickery and off the puck stick use on opponents has seen him rile pretty much every player he has come against (including Elliott!) will add a touch of fun, interaction and unpredictability to the on ice events.

The former Star James Pentecost will be flying in to bolster the Testimonial Select Team! Pents who is a current commercial airliner pilot played for the Stars for two season where he contributed to the success and winning of the NIHL 2 Championship in 2013/14. Pentecost currently plays for the Peterborough Phantoms and impressively has always averaged over a point per game wherever he has played and is a smart player that the fans loved at Oxford. Pents will make the long trip from Peterborough for the Testimonial event and we have no doubt he will add goals and smart hockey to the game for the fans to enjoy!
