National Ice Hockey League Division 2 (South)

We’re Hiring!

At Oxford City Stars we’re always looking to expand our army of volunteers in line with the rapid growth of the club in general. We’re looking for local people who are passionate about sport and want to help the club develop on and off the ice in a variety of ways. As such we’re currently recruiting for the following roles:

Game Day Tweeter

We need someone to take over our Twitter account for the duration of Stars home games at Oxpens Road (Saturday/Sunday evenings from September to March), someone to act as the font of all information for the thousands of Stars fans who passionately follow the team but are unable to attend every game. Typically fans will expect to be informed via Twitter of goals and penalties, and the beginning/end of each period. Anything in addition is a bonus. Applicants should expect to be tweeting between 20-30 times during a 60 minute game initially, with this number expected to grow as they settle into the role. Basic training on the rules of the game, and guidance on the Stars social media etiquette, can be provided as required. If this role interests you, or if you’d like to discuss it further, please get in touch.

Match Announcer

We’re looking for someone with the vocal chords of Brian Blessed and the hockey knowledge of Stars Chairman Ian Dibley (a lot!). We need someone to take to the microphone during Stars home games (Saturday/Sunday evenings from September to March) to keep the flow of information inside the rink ticking over – essentially announcing goals and penalties, and other snippets of information in between. If you’d like to get involved with the Stars and you think this could be the role for you, we’d love to hear from you. Basic ice hockey knowledge would be beneficial, although training can be provided if required.

We’re looking for someone to fill the not insignificant boots of our mascot Comet. This will mainly involve being present on game day at Oxpens Road (Saturday/Sunday evenings from September to March) to greet and interact with fans, but also to represent the club at other events during the year as may be required. So if you like ice hockey and dressing up in silly costumes, then this role could be for you.

Anyone interested in joining an organisation that wants to be the best in all aspects of its operation should contact the club at to discuss these opportunities further. Alternatively you can fill in the form below.
