Rink-share arrangement with Bristol Pitbulls
Oxford City Stars today warmly welcomed the news that the Bristol Pitbulls would be playing a substantial number of their games for next season out of Oxford Ice Rink in a rink-sharing arrangement. This means that Bristol are able to confirm their participation in National Ice Hockey League, Division 2 (South) for the upcoming season.
With the closure of Bristol Ice Rink there is currently no home ice available for the Pitbulls in the 2013/14 season. This arrangement will allow Bristol to continue and keep their team together, while giving them valuable time to get their proposed new permanent rink off the ground.
Speaking about the arrangement, Stars Club Secretary Richard Carpenter commented “Oxford City Stars and Bristol Pitbulls have had a fantastic rivalry over the past five years since their club was reformed and it’s fantastic to see it continue into the 2013/14 which is good for the Pitbulls, the Stars and the league as a whole. It’s going to be different for certain having two clubs at the same rink, but at difficult times like these, it’s important that we all work together for the good of the sport.”
Bristol Pitbulls owner Richie Hargreaves also commented: “I’d just like to say a really big thank you to the Stars organisation, the Stars supporters and Oxford Ice Rink for helping us through this transition period. We are all very grateful for this opportunity to be able to continue and are very exciting about working alongside the Stars to deliver twice the excitement to Oxford Ice Rink this season. We can’t wait to get started and are looking forward to another nail biting season.”
