School Kids To Attend Stars Match Thanks To community partnership programme
Scores of pupils from the West Kidlington Primary School will be attending Oxford City Stars’ home game on Sunday – thanks to the Sheehan Group.
The youngsters will be cheering on the Stars as part of the community partnership programme between the school, the club and the Sheehan Group.
As part of the partnership the Sheehan Group and the Stars are delivering educational activities around recycling and well-being to pupils at the school.
Last month Stars player Mike Whillock, club mascot Comet and director Greig Box Turnbull visited the school along with staff from the Sheehan Group to launch the partnership.
Attending Sunday’s match forms the next step in the partnership and the youngsters will be treated to an autograph session with players after the match against Swindon Wildcats.
Next month staff from the Sheehan Group will visit the school with the Stars and educate pupils on recycling via fun activities.
Joanne Simpson, Assistant Principle of the West Kidlington School, said: “We’re grateful to the Sheehan Group for providing the tickets to the Stars match and everyone is looking forward to it.”
Tara Sheehan, Finance Director at the Sheehan Group, said: “As a local business we are passionate about our community and environment and it is important to give something back.”
Greig Box Turnbull, director at the Oxford City Stars, said: “It is fantastic to be hosting another local school at a Stars match again. It’s making such a difference to the club and it’s wonderful to see so many youngsters engaging with the Stars.
