Simon Anderson on first defeat

25th September 2019    News

Head Coach Simon Anderson said there are “a lot of positives” in the camp following the match against Streatham Redhawks.

The Stars, who had five players missing through injury and suspension, kept battling to the end.

But the Redhawks proved too strong and overcome the Stars 1-8.

Simon said: “It wasn’t the result we wanted.

“It was always going to be a tough match, but with five players missing for various reasons it was made even tougher. I think every team in the league would struggle if they had that many players missing.

“We need to get guys back quickly as playing shortbenched is not something you can make a habit of and expect to win games in this league.”

He added: “We gave Streatham too much respect in the first 10 minutes.

“I thought 2nd period we were great.

“Going into the 3rd 1-4 down we still had a chance. We had plenty of opportunities but could not finish them and as we got more tired Streatham’s quality put the game beyond us.

“There are a lot of positives to take from it though and plenty to work on and we look to turn things around on Saturday in Slough.

“We will be short of players again and are in for a few tough weeks, but we will pull together and do our best at all times.”
