Stars lose to league leaders

3rd February 2020    News

A much improved Stars performance was not enough to get any points against Streatham at Oxpens.

Max Florey, Dax Hedges and Matt Lawday returned to the Stars’ lineup although Sam Shone was a new absence due to injury.

Streatham, who came into the game at the top of the league and already qualified for the playoffs, took the first goal of the game but Oxford levelled quickly with Josh Oliver opening up Mile Whillock to ensure the first period ended in a tie. The Stars came close on a few occasions in the second period but the visitors scored twice to put a margin between the teams.

Streatham scored yet again early in the third. A comeback goal from Josh Oliver proved only to be a consolation as the visitors hit two more to complete a comprehensive victory.

The Stars have a double weekender ahead with an away visit to Slough followed by a home game against the Raiders at Oxpens on Sunday at 6:15PM.
