Joe Edwards bagged a hat-trick in a deserved victory over a resilient MK Thunder.

In true Oxford fashion, the game started quickly with Joe Edwards’ first of the game but MK followed with a quick goal. They hit again with a power play goal near the end of the period.

A feisty second period had plenty of penalty minutes for both sides but it was with both at full strength that Ollie Shone levelled the score. David Manning grabbed a power-play goal with the Stars looking strong.

In the third period, Mike Whillock scored and Edwards claimed his second. The Thunder pulled another goal back to leave it at 5-3. A rare penalty shot to the Stars was calmly put away by Ryan Widmar, The game was completed with Joe Edwards completing his hat-trick!

After the game, Simon Anderson said:
“It’s great to finally get back to winning ways. We have not lost every time we have scored the first goal this season and so we wanted to work for that first goal. I am really happy the boys managed to do that and even though we had a tough first period, it was important that we did not panic.”
