Stars ready for big midweek match

Oxford City Stars face London Raiders 2 at home on Wednesday evening buoyed by a convincing home win at the weekend.

The Stars saw off Cardiff Fire 7-1 on Sunday – giving new acting Head Coach Paul Gore five points from six since he took the reigns at Oxpens.

Your Stars host London Raiders 2 in a rare midweek match after the original fixture was postponed due to the recent storms.

Fans were treated to a goal fest on Sunday as the Stars hit seven against Cardiff, with braces from Mike Whillock, Joey Edwards and Josh Oliver, and a goal from Matt Lawday.

Gore said: “We had a slow start to the game on Sunday, but as we got into it we played some really good hockey.

“The boys are findings some confidence at both ends of the ice which is great coming into the play offs.

“We now have two back to back home game this week to build on our progress.

“The fans have always helped make a difference and they’ve been brilliant for us.”
