Stars shone bright as Oxford snap up big D-Man Sam Shone
Oxford City Stars have swooped to sign up Bristol Pitbulls’ defenceman Sam Shone.
Sam, 28, signed for the Stars this week – following his brother Olly from Bristol to Oxpens.
He joins the Stars after seven consecutive seasons at the Pitbulls.
Sam said: “I’m really happy to sign for Oxford, it’s a great set up and atmosphere here, the crowd are awesome
“Obviously it’s nice to team up with my brother again and some guys I have played with in juniors.
“When Simon called me, it was an easy decision, I’m looking forward to getting started, meeting the rest of the team and playing hockey for the Stars.”
Head Coach Simon Anderson said: “When I first approached Sam his enthusiasm to play in a Stars Jersey was clear to me.
“He really wanted to improve his game and test himself at a higher level.
“Sam is another big body for us on our blue line.
“He moves the puck well and is very agile for a big guy.
“Sam will be pivotal in how we want to play and I am sure he will grab this opportunity with both hands.”
