Stars Sign 2 Local Juniors
Oxford City Stars are pleased to announce that 2 players have been signed up to the first team roster having come through the junior ranks at Oxford.
The first is local talent Will Harrison. Harrison 19, made 6 appearances for the team in season 2013/14, but his ice time was limited during this time. In the seasons since, Will has been playing with the Oxford Juniors development teams and also gaining NIHL2 experience with Bristol Pitbulls. Will is able to play both defensive and offensive positions and adds depth and future potential to the Stars line up.
The second signing is exciting forward Theo Bundock. Bundock, 18, signs on the dotted line after Captaining Oxford’s U18 development squad last season. Theo is gaining a reputation as a prolific goal scorer with 61 and 55 goals in his last two seasons of hockey. Bundock has already appeared in NIHL2 with a handful of appearances for Bristol in recent season, but those appearances had limited ice time.
Stars fans will be keen to see how both new recruits develop in the senior squad, surrounded by experienced and talented players to learn from.
Head Coach Kenny Redmond had this to say about the new recruits: “Both players come from the Oxford junior system, and were both highly recommended from Jeff [Sykora, Junior Head Coach] and Darryl [Morvan, Head of Hockey Operations]. William is a defenceman and Theo is a forward, and they both looked good skaters at our summer camp this year. They are both excited about signing for the Stars and are keen to learn from me and the experienced players around them on the ice. Hopefully they will be the first of many juniors to ice for the Stars in the seasons ahead”.
