Stars sign Wilson
Basingstoke Bison forward joins Oxford
Oxford City Stars are pleased to announce the signing of Hallam Wilson, 18 from Basingstoke Bison’s u20 squad.
Wilson, a forward with bags of potential has iced for Basingstoke’s NIHL2 team scoring 19 goals in 35 games at senior level already. Wilson joins the Stars with immediate effect and will be training with the team from Wednesday.
Head Coach Simon Anderson said of his capture: “Because of our injury situation I was actively looking for a couple of replacements, but this was made even more important once we knew that a couple of our players would be leaving. I moved quickly to secure Hallam’s services. After speaking to Hallam’s Coach Simon Beere in Basingstoke, it became apparent that Hallam’s skill and style of play would suit us perfectly. I also have recommendations from Ben Nethersell who has played conference with him and had nothing but good things to say about him.”
Anderson added “We are excited to have Hallam on board and I am looking forward to seeing what he can bring to the table. I would like to thank Basingstoke and Simon Beere in particular for their professional and swift handling of this signing and allowing Hallam to move to the next level and supporting his development.
Anderson finished: “I am now also looking for at least one more player and would like to have that in place before our next league game in 2 weeks time.”
New recruit Hallam added “I am very honoured to be part of such a professional organisation. The chance to join a club like Oxford is something that couldn’t be turned down. As soon as I heard the club were interested I jumped at the chance. This is a big thing for me as I’ve been at Basingstoke since I was 3. I am thankful for the opportunity and I know the team will be challenging the top 2 teams for their spot.”
With the Stars next game on 9th of October vs Invicta, Head Coach Simon Anderson continues to look for additional players for the squad and will also be focusing on Oxford’s own junior set up in addition to Theo Bundock and Aaron Burton.
