Stars swoop to sign goal-scorer Jay Warren

23rd May 2020    News

Oxford City Stars have signed teenage goal sensation Jay Warren.

Warren has joined the Stars on a ‘two-way’ for the 2020/21 season from Swindon Wildcats 2.

The 19-year-old who has represented England in various junior age groups is a hot prospect.

Last season he bagged 24 goals and 43 assists for three teams in his second full senior season.

He scored 15 goals and made 32 assists in 20 games for Swindon Wildcats 2. He also scored 8 goals and made 11 assists in 15 games for Cardiff Fire and scored in one appearance for Swindon Wildcats.

Warren has been on the radar of several clubs – but opted to join the Stars to aid his continued development.

Warren said: “I’m very excited to sign for Oxford.

“It’s a great club and has a great fan base behind them, when I’ve played at Oxford the atmosphere has been amazing.

“I’m really looking forward to making the next step in my hockey career and developing my game more.

“I’m very grateful for the chance that Dean is giving me.”

Stars head coach Dean Birrell said: “Jay is a quick forward who knows where the net is.

“I’m expecting big things from him this season and I’m pleased he chose to sign for us.”

You can help back the club by sponsoring Jay Warren’s home and away jerseys via our popular Own and Loan programme. Sponsor the home or away jersey for £100 – or both for £150.

And new this year – you can have your name (personal name or company name) on the player’s jersey. These are the jerseys Jay will play in – you would own and loan them to Jay and receive them at the end of the season.
